Application Method

Apply non-repellent liquid insecticide (fipronil, chlorfenapyr, imidacloprid, indoxacarb) as crack and crevice treatment and/or perimeter spray. Non-repellent products cannot be detected by insects, allowing them to contact treated surfaces and transfer active ingredient to other colony members before dying. Apply to baseboards, behind appliances, in cabinets, around plumbing penetrations, and along walls where pests travel. For perimeter applications, spray 1 foot up and 1 foot out from foundation. Use pin-stream or fan spray nozzle appropriate for target area. Non-repellents provide superior control compared to repellent pyrethroids because pests do not avoid treated areas.

Timing

Apply during initial service and as part of regular maintenance treatments. Can be applied any time pests are active.

Frequency

Reapply every 60-90 days for maintenance programs. Some products provide residual control for 3-6 months. Frequency depends on pest pressure and product label.

Preparation Required

Identify all harborage areas and travel paths during inspection. Clear access to baseboards and behind appliances. Ensure surfaces are clean and dry for maximum product adhesion. Remove or cover pet food and water bowls.

Follow-up Required

Allow 2-4 hours drying time before allowing re-entry. Monitor pest activity with traps to measure treatment effectiveness. Document reductions in population. Combine with sanitation, exclusion, and baiting for comprehensive IPM program.

Safety Precautions

  • Requires licensed pest management professional
  • Keep people and pets off treated surfaces until completely dry (2-4 hours)
  • Avoid application to food contact surfaces
  • Do not apply near aquariums or ponds - some products highly toxic to fish
  • Wear appropriate PPE including gloves and eye protection
  • Follow all product label directions and rates
