Application Method

Apply liquid insecticide spray in a band 1 foot up and 1 foot out from foundation base, focusing on entry points. Spray around doors, windows, weep holes, pipe penetrations, and other potential entry points. For best results with ants, use slower-acting non-repellent insecticides (fipronil, chlorfenapyr, imidacloprid) that allow foraging ants to transfer product back to colony. Apply to dry surfaces and allow to dry completely before rain exposure. Do not apply to water-saturated soil or immediately before irrigation.

Timing

Apply as preventive barrier in spring before pest activity begins, or when pests are first observed entering structure.

Frequency

Reapply every 60-90 days or as needed based on pest pressure and product label. Some non-repellent products provide longer residual control.

Preparation Required

Identify and clear vegetation and mulch 12-18 inches from foundation. Remove debris and obstacles. Ensure downspouts direct water away from foundation.

Follow-up Required

Allow surfaces to dry completely (2-4 hours). Monitor for continued pest activity. Combine with exclusion and sanitation for best long-term control. Maintain vegetation-free border around structure.

Safety Precautions

  • Requires licensed pest management professional
  • Keep people and pets off treated surfaces until dry
  • Do not apply to water-saturated soil or before heavy rain
  • Avoid spray drift onto plants, vehicles, or non-target surfaces
  • Wear appropriate PPE during application
  • Follow all product label directions
