Application Method

Apply microencapsulated insecticide formulation as residual spray to surfaces where pests travel and rest. Active ingredient is enclosed in microscopic capsules that release slowly over time, providing extended residual control (60-90 days). Capsules also stick to insects and are carried back to harborage areas. Apply as crack and crevice treatment to baseboards, behind appliances, in cabinets, and along walls. Can also be applied as perimeter spray or broadcast treatment to floors, walls, and vegetation. Mix to labeled rate and apply with pump sprayer or power equipment. Microencapsulated products less likely to stain than wettable powders and provide longer residual than emulsifiable concentrates. Common products include Demand CS, Suspend SC, Temprid SC.

Timing

Apply during regular service visits as part of maintenance program. Can be used for initial cleanout or ongoing prevention.

Frequency

Reapply every 60-90 days for interior treatments. Every 30-60 days for exterior applications. Product labels specify maximum residual duration.

Preparation Required

Identify treatment areas during inspection. Clean surfaces for better product adhesion. Remove or cover food, dishes, and pet bowls. Ensure proper mixing equipment and sprayer are available. Calculate amount of product needed.

Follow-up Required

Allow treated areas to dry completely. Document treatment areas and product used. Monitor with traps to measure treatment effectiveness. Combine with sanitation and exclusion for comprehensive control. Schedule follow-up treatment based on pest pressure.

Safety Precautions

  • Requires licensed pest management professional
  • Keep people and pets off treated surfaces until dry (2-4 hours)
  • Do not apply to food contact surfaces
  • Avoid application to porous surfaces where capsules could be absorbed
  • Some products contain multiple active ingredients - follow all label precautions
  • Wear appropriate PPE during mixing and application
  • Mix only amount needed for job to avoid waste
