Application Method

Apply insecticide granules in a band 2-3 feet wide around entire building perimeter using push-type spreader or hand-held spreader. Apply to dry surfaces at labeled rate (typically 2-4 lbs per 1000 sq ft). Granules should be watered in lightly after application to activate and move active ingredient into soil and thatch layer. Focus application on areas where pests are entering or congregating. Can also be applied to mulch beds, around trees and shrubs, and in landscape areas. Common active ingredients include bifenthrin, lambda-cyhalothrin, and deltamethrin.

Timing

Apply as preventive barrier in early spring before pest activity begins. Reapply throughout season as needed based on pest pressure and rainfall.

Frequency

Reapply every 60-90 days during pest season. May need more frequent application in areas with heavy rainfall. Some products provide residual for 3-6 months.

Preparation Required

Mow lawn and trim vegetation around perimeter. Clear debris and obstacles from application area. Identify areas of heaviest pest activity for focused treatment. Ensure spreader is calibrated for proper application rate.

Follow-up Required

Water in granules lightly (0.25 inches) immediately after application unless rain expected within 24 hours. Monitor for continued pest activity. Maintain vegetation-free border for best results. Reapply after heavy rainfall if needed.

Safety Precautions

  • Requires licensed pest management professional
  • Do not apply directly to water or areas where runoff could enter storm drains
  • Keep people and pets off treated area until watered in and dry
  • Do not apply immediately before heavy rain
  • Avoid application to impervious surfaces where granules could wash away
  • Store unused product in original container in locked storage
