Door Sweep
Weather-stripping device installed on the bottom of doors to seal the gap between door and threshold, preventing pest entry, drafts, and moisture.
Common Use Cases
- Seal gaps under exterior entry doors
- Block pest entry under interior doors
- Weatherproof garage doors
- Seal compactor room doors
- Close gaps under utility room doors
Application Instructions
Measure door width and cut sweep to size with hacksaw. Choose type: adhesive-backed (easiest), screw-mount (most durable), or slide-on (no tools needed but less secure). For screw-mount: position sweep so seal makes contact with threshold when door is closed. Mark holes, pre-drill if needed, attach with screws. Adjust height so sweep seals gap but door opens freely. Test for light gaps under closed door.
Specifications
Types: brush sweep (uneven surfaces), rubber blade (smooth surfaces), dual-seal (maximum protection). Mounting: adhesive, screw-on, or slide-on track. Materials: aluminum, stainless steel, or vinyl mounting with nylon brush, rubber, or vinyl seal. Lengths typically 36" or custom cut.
Safety Warnings & Precautions
- Ensure door can still open freely for emergency egress
- Do not create trip hazard with improper installation
