Copper Mesh
Tightly woven copper or stainless steel mesh used to fill holes and gaps around pipes, in walls, and other openings. Rodents cannot chew through copper or stainless steel mesh.
Common Use Cases
- Fill gaps around plumbing pipes before caulking
- Seal holes in walls and foundations
- Block entry points under sinks
- Fill gaps around electrical conduits
- Prevent rodent entry at utility penetrations
Application Instructions
Wear gloves when handling to prevent cuts. Tear or cut mesh to needed size (no tools required for copper wool). Pack tightly into gap or hole - mesh should completely fill opening and be compressed. For gaps around pipes, wrap mesh around pipe then stuff into gap. Apply caulk or foam sealant over mesh to lock in place and create finished surface. Do not use standard steel wool which rusts.
Specifications
Copper wool/mesh or stainless steel mesh. Coarse (#0 grade) for most applications. 100% copper (will not rust) or 304 stainless steel. Available as loose fill (bags) or rolls/sheets. Mesh size typically 20-mesh (rodent-resistant).
Safety Warnings & Precautions
- Wear gloves - sharp edges can cut skin
- Do not use around food preparation areas unless covered

Backer Rod
Flexible foam rope used to fill deep or wide gaps before caulking. Provides backing for sealant, reducing amount of caulk needed and improving seal performance.
Steel Wool (Soapless)
PROFESSIONAL NOTE: Copper mesh is strongly preferred over steel wool for all rodent exclusion work because steel wool rusts and fails, especially in moisture-prone areas. Steel wool may be used for temporary exclusion in dry interior locations only. Must be soapless to avoid deterioration.
