Tamper-Resistant Bait Station Deployment
Target Pests (3)
| Common Name | Scientific Name | Category |
|---|---|---|
| Norway Rat | Rattus norvegicus | Rodents |
| Roof Rat | Rattus rattus | Rodents |
| House Mouse | Mus musculus | Rodents |
Application Method
Use EPA-approved tamper-resistant bait stations that lock securely and cannot be opened by children or pets. Anchor stations to floor, ground, or walls with screws, cement, or wire. Place bait blocks on securing rods inside feeding chamber, never in entry runways. For interior use (only when trapping has failed): place along walls where rodents travel, away from food and food prep areas, with building manager approval. For exterior use: place along building perimeter, near burrows, and along rat travel paths. Label each station with date, product name, and PMP contact information. Number stations and map their locations.
Timing
Use only after exclusion, sanitation, and trapping methods have proven insufficient. Place in evening when rodents are active.
Frequency
Inspect every 7-14 days minimum. Replenish consumed bait. Remove bait 2 weeks after all activity stops. Check for dead rodents during inspections.
Preparation Required
Attempt trapping first. Get written approval for interior use. Identify rodent travel paths and burrow locations. Map placement locations.
Follow-up Required
Check stations at least weekly. Document bait consumption. Search for and properly dispose of dead rodents. Once activity ceases for 2 weeks, remove stations and bait. Continue exclusion work.
