Application Method

Apply pyrethrin-based flushing aerosol to crack and crevice areas where stored product pests are harboring. Flushing agents provide immediate knockdown with minimal residual, ideal for food facilities where residual insecticides not desired. Apply to: cracks in shelving, pallet racks, walls, floors, empty bins, mill machinery (when empty and shut down), conveyor systems, and processing equipment. Short bursts directed into cracks flush insects from harborage for counting and to provide immediate knockdown. Often combined with crack and crevice residual treatment in two-step approach. Use before repackaging or restocking areas to eliminate pests in facility voids. Pyrethrin breaks down quickly with minimal food contamination concern.

Timing

Apply during facility cleaning and sanitation. Best applied when area empty of product and before restocking.

Frequency

As needed during sanitation events or when localized infestations discovered. Typically monthly in active infestations, quarterly for maintenance.

Preparation Required

Empty area of product. Identify all crack and crevice harborage areas. Coordinate with facility management for downtime. Have adequate ventilation ready.

Follow-up Required

Allow area to ventilate. Sweep up dead insects. Follow with crack and crevice residual if needed. Restock area only after ventilation complete. Document application areas and results.

Safety Precautions

  • Requires licensed pest management professional
  • Extremely flammable - keep away from ignition sources
  • Use only when area empty of exposed food
  • Ensure adequate ventilation
  • Do not apply to food contact surfaces unless surface will be washed before food contact
  • Allow area to ventilate before restocking
