Target Pests (3)
| Common Name | Scientific Name | Category |
|---|---|---|
| House Mouse | Mus musculus | Rodents |
| Norway Rat | Rattus norvegicus | Rodents |
| Roof Rat | Rattus rattus | Rodents |
Application Method
Place snap traps perpendicular to walls with trigger end toward the wall along rodent travel paths. Use multiple traps spaced 10-20 feet apart for mice, 15-30 feet for rats. Bait with peanut butter, dried fruit, or nesting material secured to trigger. For mice, use smaller traps; for rats, use heavy-duty rat snap traps. Place traps in protected areas away from children and pets, such as behind appliances, in corners, along walls, under pallets, and near entry points. Check traps daily.
Timing
Set traps in evening when rodents are most active. Can be used year-round.
Frequency
Check and reset daily. Move traps to new locations if not producing catches after 3-4 days. Continue trapping for 2 weeks after last catch.
Preparation Required
Identify rodent travel paths by looking for droppings, rub marks, and gnaw marks. Remove competing food sources. Determine appropriate trap size based on rodent species.
Follow-up Required
Remove and dispose of trapped rodents within 24 hours. Reset traps immediately. Continue exclusion and sanitation efforts to prevent reinfestation. Seal entry points once trapping confirms rodent elimination.
