Application Method

Apply EPA-registered residual insecticide labeled for bed bugs as crack and crevice treatment to harborage areas. Use products containing pyrethroids, neonicotinoids, pyrroles (chlorfenapyr), desiccants (diatomaceous earth, silica gel), or combination products. Apply with crack and crevice injector tip to: bed frame joints, headboard attachments, mattress seams (if label allows), box spring interior, furniture joints, baseboards, electrical outlets, picture frames, nightstands, and wall voids. Avoid broadcast applications to exposed surfaces where people contact. Focus on harborage points where bed bugs hide during day. Rotate products with different modes of action to prevent resistance. Never use outdoor or agricultural products - use only EPA-registered bed bug products.

Timing

Apply as part of comprehensive bed bug treatment program. Treat after inspection identifies all harborage areas.

Frequency

Initial treatment with follow-up in 10-14 days to catch newly hatched nymphs from eggs not killed by first treatment. Additional treatments as needed based on monitoring.

Preparation Required

Customer must wash and dry all linens on high heat. Remove clutter from room. Pull furniture away from walls for access. Inspect thoroughly to identify all harborage sites. Have multiple product types ready for rotation.

Follow-up Required

Allow treated areas to dry completely. Install mattress encasements. Place interceptors under bed legs. Monitor with traps for 6-8 weeks. Schedule follow-up treatment in 10-14 days. Inspect neighboring units in multi-unit dwellings.
